Christmas 2010 was extra merry because we were able to celebrate with family back home in Utah! I just did not like being on our own at Christmas time, it was pretty depressing for me. I kept thinking it would be great to establish our own traditions, but the traditions that mean the most to me are being with extended family.
The week leading up to Christmas, we had a Nativity play with my family, and another one with Don's family. I love this tradition, it's really special for me to see my little ones acting out the story of Mary and Joseph. It makes me pause and reflect on the true meaning of the season. It's very easy for it to get lost in all the hustle and bustle. The kids all did wonderfully, but I haven't gotten my hands on the photos that were taken those nights. I was too busy behind the scenes directing the plays to take my own photos!
Christmas Eve was fun; we saw "Tangled" in the morning with our Green cousins, then later that evening we had dinner and games with MacArthur cousins.
We have a tradition of getting pajamas on Christmas Eve. Since we were at Toran and Erin's house that night, we got to open them with cousins...
The girls got some darling two piece flannels:

Another tradition we have is to meet at my Grandma's house around 10am for a deliciously huge breakfast and to exchange gifts. This tradition goes back for as long as I can remember and it's one of my most favorite memories as a kid. I'm so glad my grandma still does it for us so my own kids can enjoy time with her.
