Back Seat Driver

*Owen on Christmas morning holding a new truck!

My three year has recently shown an interest in my driving

and it's

DRIVING ME CRAZY!!!

It all started with his fascination with stop lights. He knows what all the different colors mean, and get's super excited when we hit the green ones because we can "GO!"

Then he started asking about stop signs. He loves their shape and color.
Now every time he sees one, whether it's in my lane or not, he yells "STOP MOM! STOP!"
And it's so hard for him to understand that I don't have to stop at random cross traffic stop signs.

Today we were driving and he said, "Mom, that wasn't a stop. You slowed down and then kept going." (He did have a point on that one, it was an awesome rolling stop) And then when we had accelerated to a brisk 35 mph and he yelled
"SLOW DOWN, YOU"RE GOING TO CRASH!"

I appreciate he's taken an interest in our safety, and I appreciate his love of learning. BUT those combined with his three year old personality is totally driving me insane. Now he has to know what every single sign means and why, and what kind of truck or car is that, and look at that truck mom, and watch out for that car, and where are we going, and why are we going there?

I understand every child goes through this stage, this is my fourth time, however that doesn't make it any easier on my nerves. It does help that he has the cutest little voice ever and his huge blue eyes in the rear view mirror just kill me.

Hmmm....

Maybe he's right, maybe I just need to 'slow down' and 'stop' and enjoy him in this stage.
After all, it really doesn't last long...and I am his favorite snuggle person...and he is so darn cute...

Owen, you're a genius!
