Thanks to a series of hurricanes, it's been a steady drizzle here for the past few days. The humidity is playing strange games with us. We live in a bottom floor apt. right now, and it has that musty smell. Case in point, the other night a graham cracker was left out on the pantry shelf and the next morning when I went to pick it up, it had turned to mush. Also, the cereal box didn't get closed tightly so now we have soggy chex. The chocolate chip cookies I made and put in a glass cookie jar have all sort of fused together to make one big mass. And my hair....don't even go there. I have resorted to the old pony tail stand-by because there really is no use in wasting time doing it. You step outside and game over: frizz, waves, odd curls.
But I'm not complaining. I actually like the rain. It's a warm rain. There's something cozy and homey about it, it makes me want to curl up with a good book. Know any? The kids like to splash at recess, or better yet, have inside recess. And I am off the hook (for now) when Reese begs to be pushed on the swing outside. The forecast calls for more rain through Wednesday. I'm sure by then I'll be singing a different tune. But for now, the rain is making the landscape even greener-if that's even possible, and I am enjoying it. As for the humidity....well, I don't like to use curse words on my blog!

I feel your pain in the hair department. I have naturally curly hair which I like to wear straight--not much of a choice right now---frizzzzzz!!
Hey Jen ... get a dehumidifier! It works WONDERS! :)
My hair turns to frizzes too when it's incredibly humid out. Blech!
I got tired of my blog background. I actually made the blog header on that scrapbooking program. I'm not in *love* with it 100%, but it'll do for awhile!
Oh, and books? You've GOT to read that Outlander series!!
humidity and muggy-ness are two things I can't stand when it rains here. Yesterday it was 74 (for the hight) and it was sooo muggy you could cut the air with a knife I swear! Last night I accidentally left our oreos out uncovered and this morning they felt like they had been dunked in milk they were that soggy...yuck!
And my hair...natural curly hair...umm...on rainy muggy days I just put mousse in it and call it good. There isn't any point to try and do anything else with it.
It's days like this when I miss utah rain and dry air....
I just read a good book by Stephen R Lawhead, called Hood. I really enjoyed it. It is a bit hard to get into, but once I did I was hooked.
Good luck with the humidity!
I cant imagine it being so humid that it makes your food go bad. Its so darn dry out here all the time.
I do love the fall dont you? I mean rain sometimes is soothing and it makes me want to "nest" and clean my house...
I agree with Amy who commented you need to read the Outlander series. I LOVED those books!!! (this comment posted by Pam, not Randy - ha ha)
We have been closer to the hurricanes but you sound like you have gotten more rain that we have. It is still just warm and humid here.
I am so jealous of your rain and cool weather. I feel your pain when it comes to the humidity...we just end up putting EVERYTHING in ziploc bags.
I am gonna jump on the bandwagon and say to try the Outlander series. My Grandpa raves about it (sounds weird, but he is my reading buddy and I trust him). I got my copy coming in the mail...so we will be reading it at the same time. Or...try Enchantment by Orson Scott Card, he is one of my favorite authors and it is a fairytale type story.
