The Haps Around Here

I think I have finally caught my breath, for now anyway. This past month was so refreshing for us. It was so nice to be back home in Utah surrounded by familiarity and family and friends. The kids played hard--every day there was a different cousin or friend to hang out with. I spent a lot of time in the car shuttling the kids to their various outings. And when we were home, there was my mom's huge yard with play set and trampoline PLUS all the kids bikes/wagons/ride-ons we had to leave behind when we moved. We got to go to the Oquirrh Mountain Temple open-house with Don's parents, it was beautiful and made me excited to see our Kansas City temple built. It was non-stop fun--well, except for the week we all got various degrees of the flu, that sucked and ruined some of our plans to go river rafting and Lagoon, but there's always next year.
We left for Kansas on Saturday after our nephew Jacob's baptism. We got on the road around noon and I insisted we drive through Colorado. I wanted to see the beautiful mountains! We winded up the huge canyon through Vail and made it to Denver around 8pm and then settled the kids in for the night. They slept like champs! We figured we might as well take advantage of it so we continued on and got in around 6am.

The next day we jumped right back into our regular routine. It didn't take long at all for the kids to say "I'm bored" or "I'm hungry, why don't you go grocery shopping the pantry is empty" and blah blah blah. So after a dentist visit for the kids, I obliged and went food shopping. I don't know how Don survived on corn dogs and cereal for the past month, but he did.

So anyway, the dentist. Turns out Ally has perfectly straight teeth and will not need braces, but she does have two cavities. Brayden has crazy crooked teeth and will need braces but has no cavities. Reese refused to open her mouth, screamed like we were pulling her arms off and clung to my neck the entire time. I could have beat her with those unattached arms I tell ya.

Packing is the name of the game now. In between stuffing boxes we are still trying to have fun. Swimming and friends daily. By 9am we had four different friends knocking on our door this morning. I am so sad to take the kids away--once again---from their friends. But I know that we need to move. The house we will be moving into is a blessing and has fallen into our lap, it couldn't be more perfect for us. It's fenced, has a huge deck, two fireplaces, finished basement and is walking distance to the school. We are so happy to be back into a house after 2 1/2 years of what seemed like wandering around.

See? Isn't it cute?!

Now here's the part that get's interesting. The school district we are in, Blue Valley, is top five in the nation. They take pride in keeping class sizes small. When I went to register the kids at their new school on Monday, the secretary informed me that they only have one kindergarten class and it is maxed at 23 kids. They have no room for Reese. "She may have to attend another school" the blonde lady informed me and I informed her that "we will be living two blocks from this school, I will not be driving my child to another school" I also reminded her that "this is a public school, you cannot turn my child away" and she said she'd "get back to me." So that's where we are with that and school starts in a week and a half. Fun!

Today we're going to try a water park (that's a link!) with some other moms in the ward. It's in Gardner, KS about 20 minutes away and is SUPER cheap. From the online pics it looks like a ton of fun.

Then tonight, more packing!
