So yes, Thursdays.
My crazy day.
I used to LOVE Thursdays, when we lived in Utah. But Kansas has our schedules changed around so much that this day has me running around literally all.day.long.
We start with early morning violin for Ally. Dragging her out of bed, making sure she's getting dressed (she usually gets back in bed), making her eat something, following her around with a hairbrush because "it at least needs to be brushed" and consoling her tears because she "hates violin now!" should really get me an award. I can only imagine what her teenage years will be like.
When I get home from taking her to the school, round two begins. I wake up Brayden and Reese and try really really hard to not wake up Owen---doesn't usually work. Getting them dressed is a much easier task. They are excited for school and mostly pleasant to deal with. Breakfast is had, hair is done. Owen is usually awake and demanding his "BAH BAH" and then we are off to school. Note: Owen is usually still in his nighttime diaper if he wasn't stinky upon waking up.
Brayden is dropped off with a million "I love you's" and "Have a good day's" and we on our way to Reese's preschool. We usually get there early and have time to kill, so we sit in the car and the kids play while I listen to Glenn Beck, which always makes my blood pressure rise, because man, we are screwed.
Owen and I arrive back home and round three begins. He's changed, fed a decent breakfast, and
then I have to examine our surroundings which often look like a volcano erupted and spewed clothes, shoes, dishes and toys in every imaginable corner. The picking up begins and Owen is hot on my trail. All too soon I have to pick up Reese, and then it is time to run our errands.
After errands, lunch and naps. I get to relax a little here. Not for long though. Gotta go pick up older two. I wait in the carpool line, one of a small handful of minivans mixed in with luxury SUV's. I feel like I need to dress up just to go to the elementary school. Back home we do after- school snacks. And then it is time to get ready for dance.
Dance. The studio we attend is top notch, can't complain there, but getting there is no easy task. Traffic is always backed up for miles, and the kids are always being crazy in the back. Now I have to entertain everyone while we sit through two one hour long dance classes. Oh.My.Gosh. Kill me now. It's not so bad if I remember to bring a movie, but on the days that I don't it is a complete nightmare. Usually Don will meet me there after work, and he or I will take the other kids home. But most of the time Thursdays are my nights for enrichment or book group or something or other, so he is stuck at the studio.
Then bedtime routine begins. I just want them to get into bed on their own accord. And go to sleep. By themselves. Please?! *Sigh* Of course that doesn't happen. Hours later when all is quiet, the soft glow of the TV means our favorite shows are on. Thursday night shows make me happy, and I can live through the rest for a few peaceful minutes with Michael Scott and crew. It's my big reward. (That's what she said)

Wow, that is quite the day. I feel really lazy now...compared to you. At least Thursday night TV is something to look forward to.
Whew! I'm exhausted reading all that! I'm laughing at your description of your minivan w/ all the luxury SUV's at the school... yep, remember that!
good times! you just had to get in a "that's what she said," didn't you? awesome! i always seem to ask you what you have going on on thursdays, and all you need to say is "it's dance day," and i just know. have a good rest of your day and just be glad you have your health! ;-)
I think that sounds like every day at my house!
Yeaaa, your Thurdsday is now over. I hate days like that, where you are running nonstop. The things we do for our children.j I hope your Friday is relaxing.
Ha, I love it!!! You are such an amazing Mom! I wish I could be half as good as you are. Your family is so lucky to have you!
"That's what she said...." ha ha ha!
I will let that fact that you hate my favorite day of the week slide, but only cause I would have to pull out all my hair after a day like that.
That sounds so much like a day here!!
I wish you lived closer! We have 'dance days' twice a week for two 1/2 hours each day and I DREAD it.. Its so funny that I am choosing it.. heehee.. Arn't these kids lucky?? I am glad to know I am not the only one who dreads dance days.. So what does come on tv on thursdays? I need a good show to love..
Wow, I had no idea. What dance studio do they go to you crazy girl? We all lead such busy lives. It's a good thing we have "The Office" to calm us down and give us a good laugh. Ha! Ha!
I'm tired just reading your blog! You are a great mom! I love Michael Scott and gang too!
