I am totally stealing the idea for this post from Karina's blog. It's not a stolen idea though, it's a coincidence that she has been doing the exact same thing I've been doing for the past week.
That is to
SIMPLIFY
As we downsized our living spaces the past year and put our stuff into storage, I've realized that we actually CAN get along without all those 'wonderful finds' and 'great deals' I always seem to get. We're not going to unpack all the way, so as a result we have boxes full of things in every closet and on every shelf I could find space for. This past week, I decided I had had enough and I started sorting through every item we owned. I can't tell you how many trips we've made to Goodwill and even the dumpster.
Today I spent a good 6 hours on wrapping things up, (sorry to Owen for being left in his jammies all day) and I actually feel like a burden has been lifted off of me. The whole family is more at ease. I feel peaceful and as a result the kids are more peaceful. Now precious time with them won't be wasted trying to locate something in a box or even picking up all the (excessive) toys they had, which usually ended up with a grumpy mom and unhappy kids. It's amazing to me that when I really separated my needs with my wants and decided I could do without alot of those things I thought I must have and must save, that I actually feel like I have MORE.
It would have been cool to see before and after shots, but I don't want to upload pictures on the company laptop!

Good for you. I so need to do the same thing. Sales are a girls worst enemy. You always end up spending more than if nothing would have been on sale. I am glad to hear you are feeling more peaceful and at home. Love ya! Becky
i have spent the last 5 years of having babies just stuffing stuff in places it has no business being, thinking, "i'll get to it later." and now i'm paying the price! i started with a cupboard a couple weeks ago, and hopefully this will help give me the momentum i need to keep going! i will post my progress on my blog too.
Yay for you! I'm doing the exact same thing! Going through every one of my boxes and getting rid of stuff.
Great minds think alike... We are having a clothing swap at Sup-Saturday & I was trying to get motivated enough to gather some things up and take it there!!
You beat me to it! So your mom is coming?? How fun!!!
hey I'm next, why don't you come to my house and help me! I'm a clutterbug! Way to go!
Ya! I'm so excited to hear all the excitement of simplifying our lives! It really does take a huge amount of weight off of my shoulders knowing that all that we use and need is in my house and nothing more---well almost nothing more. I'm not perfect but my house is 300 lbs. lighter!
