Home Made

I'm trying my hand at being more self-sufficient. This weekend I put up some strawberry freezer jam, and made my first (and second) batch of homemade 100% whole wheat bread--with fresh ground wheat. I even got the world's pickiest eaters to eat it, and they loved it! Now all I need is a wheat grinder so I don't have to do it at the grocery store:
With all this talk of the economy declining, I'm getting a little nervous on how much food we have stored up. Most of it spoiled in our storage unit over the winter, so we basically have to start over. The current gas prices and talks of trucker strikes really makes me anxious to get stocked up on our necessities, enough to last a month or two.

Now, I'm off to chop wood and churn some butter.

{giggling} ... now, what are you going to do if the electricity goes out b/c the truckers can't transport what the electric company needs to keep our power running... can I come over and help you eat your Ben & Jerry's surplus? :)
