Branson 2010

My sunkissed sweeties

**Yet another LONG overdue post!**

In early August we were invited by Randy and Pam for a little camping getaway to Table Rock Lake in Branson, MO. We heard some really fun things about Branson, and were so excited to finally get to go and check it out! It was around a three hour drive from our house in Kansas, not too shabby--and it was beautiful too--so green!

We arrived late, around 10pm, and got settled into their super deluxe trailer---it was so nice! Our campground was right next to the lake. The next day it was pouring rain, which was a welcome break from the horrid humidity they were having. It was nice to just hang out under the awning and visit while watching the torrential downpour. What rain? I'm just playing my DS here...

After the rain let up, we decided to head into town and the kids got to choose a fun thing to do. After much consideration, they chose the Ripley's Believe It Or Not! Museum. When we got to town we were surprised at all the touristy things there are to do in Branson!! It's like a mini-Vegas with all the shows and concerts and hotels on the main drag. There were helicopter tours, zip-line tours, amusement parks, museums and restaurants.

Here are some things we spotted from our car:

Titanic Museum (in Branson?!)
Godzilla and the Hollywood Wax Museum
And our favorite:
Ripley's Believe it or Not!
It was a huge museum and we spent a few hours wandering around
seeing all the awesome displays. It really was amazing.
Here's a shot of the ceiling as you walk in the front door--so cool!
Check out the worlds tallest man!Yep, that's a shrunken head!
Holy two-headed cow!

Afterward we took a little dip in the lake, which was so warm, it felt like a bath!
The kids had sooo much fun swimming in the lake.
That evening, Holly who was on her way to college in MO, showed up,
it was good to catch up with her!Hi Holly!

On Friday, we were so excited to learn that Randy and Pam had rented a pontoon boat so we could tour the lake! I had no idea Table Rock Lake was so huge. The kids had so much fun on the boat. It was their first time!

It was an overcast day, still warm though. Perfect.
See the wind blowing through their hair!

The lake and surrounding mountains were really beautiful

The guys took turns driving the boat...the rest of us just relaxed!

We had to stop a few times so the kids could swim.
I think they may have grown gills on this trip!

We even stopped by the fish hatchery to learn about how they keep the lake stocked!
I have to add that during this trip, Owen really took a liking to Pam.
She was so patient with him and his obsessive attention-seeking antics.
She was even sweet about him calling her "Ham" instead of Pam. ;)

This little getaway was the perfect ending to our summer...

Thanks guys, for driving all the way from Texas
to meet up with us for such an awesome weekend!!

Ahh! I loved Branson! The Titanic museum is new though! I love it all! It's most beautiful in the fall, w/ all the beautiful colors! Glad you were able to go and see one of the main touristy places for Missouri!! :)
