Don and I woke them up bright and early before school with this: "Hey kiiiiids! Wake up! We have a surprise for you, we got you each a little present because you've been sooooo good lately!"
I'll tell you, you've never seen four kids jump out of bed and get dressed so fast! They ran downstairs and I had four neatly wrapped packages sitting on the table with their names on them. They had no idea what was to come....
We said: "One, Two, Three, OPEN!" and they started ripping off the paper...
Just look at their innocent expressions, so full of hope!

Ally got: A pair of Don's old socks
Braydo got: a half a cube of butter and a saltine cracker
Reese got: a used bar of soap and a safety pin
(she was less then thrilled as you can see!)

We knew the joke would be lost on Owen, so we wrapped up one of his hotwheels---he was the only one pretty excited about it!
The kids were good sports and laughed all the way to school. Except Reese, who was so disappointed she didn't get an actual present! When they got home, I had one more trick up my sleeve. I had taken a sharpie marker and ripped off a few squares of toilet paper and wrote a message on it, then let it float in the toilet.
Reese was the first to make the discovery---she found a "HELLO THERE" in the bowl and totally freaked out! Poor girl!
I think we may have started a new tradition!
I already have ideas for next year, and I can't wait to get them again!

I am totally cracking up. Especially that Reese was so disappointed. Jake would have been too! I'll have to steal your ideas next year. You'll have to let me know what others you have.
I'm so doing the floating toilet paper with a message. That is so funny!
OH MY GOODNESS!! Thanks for the belly roll this morning!!
