Monthly Musicals

I got this awesome idea from my friend Val. She and her kids do a summer musical every year to "keep the kids brains going" as she puts it! They listen to the soundtrack of a musical all summer and then before school starts, they have a big party and watch the musical. Her kids like to dress up as the characters they've been learning about all summer long for the big premiere.

I decided that I wanted to do a similar thing with my kids this summer! Instead of one musical, I think we'll do one a month! A few weeks ago, Don downloaded Andrew Lloyd Webber's "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" soundtrack and the kids have loved listening to it.
So, we're going to start with this one for the month of June! At the end of the month, I hope to have found a good version of it we can watch--preferably the one with Donny Osmond, since he's Joseph in our soundtrack. I hope I can find it in time for our big premiere!

"Go, go, go Joseph you know what they say
Hang on now Joseph you'll make it some day
Don't give up Joseph fight till you drop
We've read the book and you come at on top"

What a great idea! I think we have the Mamma Mia soundtrack down to a T though. :D

This is a wonderful idea!
My kids have already been abused with my love of musical theater. Clark hid my Sound of Music dvd so we wouldn't have to watch it anymore.

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this musical!
Jackson was addicted to it, believe it or not, when he was a year old. Must have been the bright colors and great music. We watched the Donny Osmond version. I can't wait to hear how the big premiere goes!
