The weather patterns have been strange around here. Last week, we had temps in the negatives with windchill and warnings to be very careful when/if you have to leave your house due to ice. This week, we had some freezing rain, then things warmed up with temps reaching 67 degrees. The day after Christmas was spent outside at the playground with no jackets! That night, thunderstorms rolled in with tornado watches lasting through the night. Then yesterday at 4:45am, we were awoken by the biggest, loudest, scariest microburst winds we have ever seen. You could literally hear the wind approaching, and yes it did sound like a freight train. There were no sirens going off, so we knew it wasn't a tornado. However, I wouldn't have been surprised if it was--as fierce as those winds were! Today at church, people were comparing damage and stories of rushing to the basement with their kids for fear of their roof being ripped off while their house shook.
The storm brought in more cold temps so yesterday we decided to spend the day at home playing our new games from Santa. We learned financial planning while playing Monopoly, and took turns rocking Guitar Hero with our mad skillz. I can proudly say I am out of the 'easy' mode! The kids had a friend over and they decided to put on a concert so all the lights went off, and flashlights shone down like spotlights on the one rocking the strings. We made great memories just spending the day together, cheering each other on. Hopefully the kids will remember their first Christmas away from Utah as one filled with laughter and fun! And crazy weather.
