Baby Blues

This is what happens when an Oreo gets left on the ground!

Dear Owen,
It has been such a joy having you in our family! Your birth adds a dimension to our family dynamics that we as parents love to sit back and watch. How your siblings love you! They carry you around all day long---much to your happiness and equally to your disdain.
You are played with endlessly; you are wrestled, dressed up like a girl and had your toenails painted, and you've been the "giant baby come to destroy" in many a doll-house adventure.
Owen, as much as we've enjoyed having a baby around the house to love and kiss and rock, the time has come for you to make some changes! The first thing we worked on was somewhat successful as of two weeks ago----no more nursing!! (much to your protest and mom's rejoicing) The second is still up for debate in your little mind:
WALKING
You are almost 14 months old now. You have no desire to walk, or stand alone. I can see the internal battle you have with wanting to be big and wanting to stay the baby. Your dad and I thought "oh it's fine, we'll keep him a baby for as long as he wants" but now it's getting a little...babyish. Don't worry, you are and always will be our baby! But it's time for you to spread your wings and fly.
Fly baby, fly!

Much love from your mommy.

haha wow, does he have huge blue eyes or what?? Owen, I apologize in advance that you have to look so much like I did as a baby! Your mommy is right buddy, its time for you to walk! That is the best picture I've ever seen Jen lol, nice work! He looks happy, so Reese must not have tormented him too much in the 20 minutes prior to finding the Oreo and having that pic taken:) I love you guys!

It's interesting - all of the baby boys I know that were born last summer(Owen, Jace, Easton, and Britton) are uninterested in walking. I wonder if it has something to do with the alignment of the moon and sun last July? :o)

hilarious! his blue eyes are gorgeous! that was a great post. i'll have jack get on his case asap...and you need to be able take him to lifetime without an appointment! just watch, one day you'll come into the room and he'll just be walking like it's no big deal.

That is the cutest picture!!! I was taking my own messy oreo baby pictures yesterday...

I love the comments your hubby leaves, he seems so sweet. I don't even think Jay remembers we have a blog...he can be a dork.

Well, Owen, I tried, REALLY tried to get you walking before I left, but sadly, it didn't work. You had NO desire whatsoever!! :)

Man, I miss that kid!

Jenni, I love how you write!! What a cute little letter to a cute little boy. And by the way, I would eat an Oreo if I found one too...

What a sweetie he is!
I bet with the kids going off to school and you alone with the little ones has been so fun. I was just thinking today how grateful I was I had Kelsie because what would I do all day without her?

That is sooo funny! Don't worry, my sisters kids didn't walk until they were 17 months old. Crazy!!! He'll get there and just think--your biceps are getting soooo strong from holding him all the time. I really was training Jace to walk as soon as possible because of the lifetime rule. I couldn't stand having to make an appointment.

I can't get the feedjit thing to load. How do I track and spy to see who is coming to my blog and how?

Oh Owen you should be ready to run around the track like your mommy! I think in a lot of families the youngest takes longer to walk. At least that's how it is for most people I know. I definitely would have taken advantage of everyone carrying me around if I could go back to that age. Walking is just way overrated. J/K I'm sure he will be up and going in no time. This was way too cute Jenni.
