Last night I attended Enrichment Night for the women in our church. It was really fun, which as many of you know, isn't always the case. It was a "Family Favorites" and "Personal Mission Statement" night. The two women in charge are both interior designers so they have contacts all over the place and those contacts donated lots of goodies for door prizes which everyone got. We each got a 'swag bag' and loaded up on fliers, brochures and free tickets to local family attractions. Many of the ladies shared their local family favorites and I didn't realize how much there is to do here! I'm sure that's the case no matter where you live--it's just nice to have someone tell you where it all is!

Then we had a woman who works for Steven R. Covey talk to us about creating our own personal mission statement. I'd never thought of doing that before, I've been wanting to do a family mission statement soon, but a personal one I think is a great idea. There are so many roles we play in life-wife, mother, daughter, friend, etc., and it's easy to get overwhelmed by them; this gives you a sense of direction. So, by golly, I think I
will create my own Personal Mission Statement! Here are some benefits of creating one: clarifies ones purpose, provides focus and direction, helps one design ones life instead of having it designed by others, guides day to day decisions, gives one a greater sense of meaning.

It made me think of what I want my future contribution to the world to be and the person I need to become to achieve it. Boy do I have a long way to go, but at least I got a free template from the Steven R. Covey Foundation to get me started. I'd be happy to pass it along too!

What a great idea for enrichment night...we had to learn how to cook a turkey in a garbage can....good times...and it did not even come with a swag bag.
The thought of a personal mission statement is so inspiring, thanks for sharing.
