Here's a brief recap of the past four (girls only) days: after picking up my mom, aunt Kim and Grandma at the airport, we came back to our place for a bite to eat then we were off to explore. I showed them around my favorite areas of Overland Park, and we went through some amazing mulit-million dollar model homes. I decided that I've never lived in a more beautiful place (sorry, Utah)--it's so lush and green and gorgeous here. I can't wait to see what autumn brings!
Anyway, back to the recap!
The weekend consisted of lots of shopping malls, outdoor and indoor, ritzy and not-so-ritzy even a deeply discount store that was a little scary. We went to the Crowne Center which is owned by Hallmark and toured the Hallmark visitors center--it was really interesting! Then we saw the only World War I memorial dedicated to the war in the U.S. It was awesome! The view of Kansas City from the memorial was amazing. We ate out a lot too- from horrible Mexican food (I miss you Cafe Rio!) to yummy Pacific food--Elephant Bar. It was great to tour the big city, just driving around to wherever we wanted to go. Trying to navigate the streets and freeways was a little nerve racking though! I only got off the wrong exit twice (ahem, the same exit.)
We played with the kids and watched chick flicks and just all around had a good time. To cap it all off, we saw WICKED which was amazing! I want to see it again! The girls got a real taste of a Midwest Spring while they were here: a HUGE thunderstorm in the middle of the night, rain, sunshine and a day with horrible humidity.
Big thanks goes to Don for staying home to watch the kids all weekend so I could play! AND for everyone for coming to Kansas to visit us!

Thank you my sweet girl the most wonderful weekend I enjoyed every minute, and I loved playing Barbie’s with Reese the best. The anticipation of the trip over these long months was of course worth the wait, but the time spent with you went by much too fast. My most favorite part of the whole trip was visiting with you. I left knowing that you are really ok and your family has acclimated well to Kansas.
Don thank you for taking such good care of your family.
Love you all
I am like the last person on earth to see Wicked, everyone I know loves it! We were glad that David C. won too, I think David A. needs a few years - he is just so young. Yeah - my husband grew up here in Lehi, I bet your famlies probably know each other. His parents live back behind the old pool (not the new one at the legacy center) and are in south stake (5th ward I think). My sister still lives here too so it's nice when we come to town they live a block apart. What is your madien name? How funny!
Jenni, Don, Ali, Reese and Owen,
Thanks soooo much for having me last weekend. I had a blast. It was a great time and a great visit. Let Don know we really appreciate his help with the kids. Tell those kids I love them.
Keep looking for something for our next "girls days". We need to keep doing things together.
Love,
Aunt Kim
I love Wicked so much...it is definently in my top 5 musicals (which trust me is a big deal)! Currently me and my sisters are saving all our $$$ to go see it in NYC for my 30th birthday (among other things).
